Instructions

  1. Right before the game changes to the night of a day or the beginning of a day pause the game.
  2. Start rapidly pressing the start button to pause/unpause the game, if you have a turbo-fire controller use that.
  3. Continue doing this for at least 5 hours & 10 minutes if you are in a large area or 4 hours if you are in a small area.
  4. Unpause the game, you will have traveled back in time 12 hours.

Result

As well as taking you back in time 12 hours the things that are done by Link will start over again while still being done (yes I know it doesn't make great sense).

e.g.: The Kafei-Anju quest: if Link completes it, no matter what he does (or doesn't do) after going back in time, Kafei will be at the meeting point.

The best example is the cows at Romani Ranch. First you must save the cows. After going back in time, the cows will be attacked again. But this time, the aliens won’t move. To unlock them, you will need to fire an arrow at them. If a ghost gets in the barn, you will see the movie of them capturing the cows, but the roof will still be intact after the movie, and the cows will still be there. On the other hand, if Link doesn’t save the cows the first time round, he will be allowed to try again after going back in time.

Quick things to do that utilize this glitch

Find someone who moves from one place to another at certain times of day (e.g: the postman) stand next to the person and begin pausing/unpausing the game, do so at least 30 times, stop pausing the game and the person will teleport ahead to where they should be at that time of day (remembering that you have just moved time forward without allowing them to move).

Just before a new night starts begin pausing/unpausing the game, you'll have to do it enough times so that the game time goes back 12 hours. When the game has gone back 12 hours you should notice when the game is briefly unpaused that everything has got brighter as though it was the morning of that day again. When you stop pausing time will skip ahead to where it should be.

A bit of an explanation is probably needed here as this glitch sounds rather fake, but it's not.
By repeatedly pressing start you pause and unpause the game, every time the game is unpaused 0.03 seconds(realtime) pass, but the game does nothing, so if you start pausing/unpausing just before the game changes to night/day then eventually the game clock will move past the time that the day/night begins, but because while doing this the game itself does nothing, only time passes, then the new day/night will not begin. This produces a dilemma for the game which keeps everything going by turning time back 12 hours to the start of the day/night you are currently in. This can be seen by doing this just before the game changes to the new day/night, look at the time displayed in the Bombers notebook as you start doing the glitch it will read(for example) 5:58pm of the first day, pause/unpause a number of times then check the time again, if you've done it long enough the clock will read something like 6:01am of the first day. But, there is a catch, while time may have gone backwards, if you unpause the game it will straight away skip to the beginning of the day/night that should have come next. To avoid this you have to make the game go through the entire 12 hour loop by pausing/unpausing, and here's the catch: It will take you approximately 5 hours and 10 minutes realtime, unless you do it in a small area such as a cavern in which case it will take approximately 4 hours. This unfortunately means that unless you have a turbo-fire controller or an iron will that the glitch is mostly useless.
